I love reading! I read frivolous online gossip articles, world event articles, a few relationship self-help type books, and romantic novels. I like the romantic novels that aren’t as explicit and historical romances. My favourite romance authors are Nora Roberts and Lisa Kleypas.
I’m going to try to post thoughts and reviews of the books I’m reading here to share with you as well.
Right now I’m reading Summer Desserts by Nora Roberts on my tablet when I have time. I’m liking how this one is going so far with the clashing of two strong egos and I’m looking forward to see which one bends first. One thing I’ve loved about the Nora Roberts books I’ve read so far is that the female characters are so strong, independent, and unapologetically sexually free. That is, they seek intimate physical pleasure giving in to indulgent impulses freely which is something I think some women might still have a hard time doing – although, there is usually some emotional price to pay for their actions later in the books but it always ends up worth it. So I try to read in between studying, work, gaming, and tv time.
I started reading Last One Home by Debbie Macomber in hard copy to take with me to read where I couldn’t take my tablet with me. I might only be two or three chapters deep in this book but it’s harder for me to read because I don’t think I liked how the story began, and the protagonist’s thought pattern and actions or her situation. Honestly, I like my romantic novels to be unrealistically feel good books that I can live vicariously through – like grown up versions of Disney movies. So if the story is too real or too dark then I don’t connect to it very well. I’ll try to continue with this one when I finish the Nora Roberts book.
I also just picked up The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman to read because I think my tablet was charging and it’s been sitting around a long time now. I’m literally only a few pages in though but so far I like it. It’s easy to read and understand so far.
Hopefully I finish up a book or two soon and can post an overall review. I’ll try to avoid spoilers but if there are any I’ll be sure to give warnings well ahead! 🙂
